3 ways to live LIFE

Recently I went to the (first ever in Israel) Logotherapy International Conference. I was privileged to be a speaker at this amazing 4 day Conference and I presented a paper on my work, “REFLEXOLOGY AND LOGOTHERAPY – BODY MEETS SOULS.” Logotherapy is all about how to live life exceptionally despite circumstances, and how to find meaning in suffering. In my talk I spoke about cases that I have worked where there have been life challenges that have played out through the body. When we are open to hearing messages that our bodies are communicating to us about life, often we can see amazing changes and health occur.

At the conference I heard a beautiful idea that I wanted to share with you and inspire you with this week.

3 Ways to live life.

Three men arrived at work one day in an open field. It was a boiling hot day and their job was to break down big rocks into gravel. This was hard physical labor. A passerby noticed the men and asked the first man what he was doing. This was his reply, “I’m working here in the boiling hot sun breaking down these stones, and when my day is done I’m going home.” The second man was asked the same question and this was his reply, “I’m working here in the boiling hot sun breaking down these stones, and when my day is done I’m going home to my family who I am providing for.” The third man was also asked the same question, and this is what he replied, “I’m working here in the boiling hot sun breaking down these stones, and when the stones are ready they are going to be used to build a Cathedral which is going to provide a Holy place of worship for many people.”

Three different ways to look at life. The first is just getting by. The second is getting by with a purpose. The third is transcending into a bigger picture, of actually being a link in the chain of something greater than yourself, of making a contribution, of being of service.

This story is all about Logotherapy . Everyday we have choices to make down to the smallest tasks that we do. We can decide how we tackle theses choices and tasks. We can decide which of these three men we want to identify with. We are in control of how we live life!

How will you break down your “STONES” today?

Dr Victor Frankl, founder of Logotherapy and author of Mans search for meaning says,

“When we are no longer able to change a situation – we are challenged to change ourselves”
