From 2017, I was privileged to train with Dr Gerald Epstein at the American Institute for Mental Imagery (AIMI). Mental imagery is a healing modality that is used by harnessing the imagination. “Nobody can be an authority over your own experience, except you.” says Dr Jerry. This method is empowering and will help put you in the driver’s seat with your healing experience. It works from the inside-out, from the mind to the rest of the body.
What is Mental Imagery?
Imagery is a method used by focussing our mind, through imagination, to bring about change or healing in the body on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level. It’s a process that can reveal new ways to deal with our life’s challenges. With imagery we access our own inner strength through our imagination and images, to bring about transformational change.
Who can benefit from Mental Imagery?
Mental imagery is a comprehensive model of healing that can benefit you if you want to be an active participant in your healing journey. Because it uses the imagination to bring about healing, it can be used by adults as well as children. The beauty about imagery is that you can use imagery in your own time as powerful tools to help yourself when challenges arise.
Conditions that mental imagery can impact:
- Physical conditions – imagery helps reduce pain, boost immunity, balance digestive, respiratory and urinary disorders, hormonal changes, fertility, menopause as well as preparation and recovery from surgery. Imagery is also beneficial in preparing for birth and bonding with the baby.
- Emotional conditions – imagery can help you alleviate panic, anxiety, fear and anger. Once you know how to do this, you will be able to help yourself when it arises.
The imageries are tailor made for your experience. It’s an interactive, exciting process between client and practitioner, where the imageries come from the client. Your body has an innate wisdom and we tap into this to bring about your healing.
