This month is a month of HAPPINESS. In Israel we celebrate the festival of Purim. It is said that “Whoever enters the month of Adar should increase his happiness” In Hebrew happiness is written as BESIMCHA. If we mix up these letters we can write the word MACHSHAVA. This means thoughts. So what does happiness have to do with our thoughts? Everything! Life often presents us with difficulties and challenges. We are not in control of what comes our way, but we are in control of what we do and how we respond to our life circumstances.

This is a profound Logotherapy idea. There is another lovely idea that inspires me, “The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything, they make the best of everything that they have.”
This story is from a wonderful book called The art of Possibility by Ben Zander.
A story about attitude and our thoughts…
At the beginning of the last century there was a shoe manufacturing company in Manchester that wanted to expand its market into Africa, so they sent 2 representatives to scout out the possibilities. The first one arrived, checked into his hotel and went looking around. After only one hour, he arrived back at his hotel, and checked out. Before doing that he sent a telegram to his employers (who remembers those!) saying “Situation hopeless, they don’t wear shoes here.” He packed his bags and went back home. The other sales representative checked into his hotel and went out looking. He too was gone for hours. He walked all over. He came back to his hotel and also sent a telegram to his employers saying “Glorious opportunity! They don’t have shoes yet!”
Both salesmen were reporting exactly the same information. It all has to do with our attitudes. Our attitudes start with our thoughts.
Wishing you a beautiful week filled with positive thoughts.
